I'm getting ready to swap a few guns I don't use for some that I will. Which do you think is the better load?

Mike there both very good rounds. I have both. If your wanting a round just to put them down, the 22-250 is a very flat and accurate shooter. Price wise, i would lean more to the .223. Ammo is cheap, and very plentiful. If your looking to keep hides, the .223 i feel would be a better fit, it doesnt shoot as fast as the 250, but exit with either on a cat will most likely not be the greatest. Look into the 700 sps .223 with a heavy barrel. Im sure you will not be disappointed.

I have to agree with everything comander said. I also would look at the 243. loaded with a 55 grain vmax its hard to beat. the 223 wssm is also hard to beat. I own both. the 223 is by far the least expensive to shoot. I like that with the 243 you can shoot a heavier bullet and wind doesnt have as much of an adverse affect on it. in my opinion I would want one gun in a 223 and another in either 243 or 25/06 for those windy days.

I have both...... and agree with the Commander

.22-250 is harder hitting,flatter shooter

but .223 is cheaper and doesn't destroyer hides as bad

.22-250 damage.......
